August 2008

Most of my fishing recently has been at Stafford Moor. The fish are now up in the water and can be caught on the pellet waggler and I have had a couple of tons in the last two weeks using this method. If you need to know how to fish the pellet waggler, our next DVD release is Will Raison with that method, follow the V2V button to check it out.

I also had a 2lb 4oz grayling from the Hampshire Avon while filming Mark Everard a couple of weeks back. That was a really unexpected bonus, as I only had two casts with Mark's rod.

The River Culm gave me loads of dace on the stick float and maggot a couple of weeks ago. I fished just downstream of Paddleford Bridge Pool, running the main stream towards a weir with single bronze maggot on the hook. Most of the fish were only an ounce or so, but I had 75 dace in three hours. It was proper 'take you back' fishing right out in peaceful countryside.

I'm hoping to get a day on the tidal Exe soon, but just never seem to have time when the tide is right. That will be another dace bag up, I hope, but with bigger ones.
