Fisheries
around the Bay are starting to hit top summer
form. I had a short session on Town Parks'
Match Lake casting a method feeder to the
big island and the carp were whacking the
rod tip round within seconds of the feeder
touching bottom.
Hair
rigged corn was the bait for 21 fish in
a three hour spell of bagging. Many of the
fish were ghost carp, which scrap all the
way to the net.
A
visit to New Barn saw me fishing soft pellets
for some clonking roach on Willow Lake.
A lot of the silvers have been netted out
of Mirror Lake and moved up to Willow to
allow them to feed without too much competition
from the big carp.
Elsewhere
around the southwest, Goodiford Mill near
Cullompton is a real carp bagging water
with method feeder and pellet waggler the
best methods. Nets of up to 300lb are regularly
taken in the warmer months.
Treasure
Island Lake at Bake Lakes in Cornwall is
one of my all time favourite venues. I won
the last match down there with 48lb of carp
on worms from peg 2. Try to fish tight into
the islands or along the margins where there
is some cover.
